So "not to be that guy" but Borderlands was unplayable for me and my friends on OG PS4s and slims, and I'm not exaggerating. I'm a programmer and it's not something most people that aren't in the programming world are even aware of. The software started outpacing the hardware even just halfway into PS4's life, however, there's a significant problem with programmers nowadays and them relying more on strong system specs to make up for laziness and/or bad practices. If you can't optimize your game enough just to be playable you should only release on the systems that can run it. It's reasonable to assume a game will run reasonably well on the systems it releases on. I can assume the game will run flawless on PS5 if B元's performance on PS5 is any indication. Also, Wonderlands is using the B元 engine, which was made for last gen systems. Even if the same things happens to PS5, I can assume the first 6 years will be great. PS4 definitely started to struggle towards the last 1/3 of its lifespan.
Just got too time consuming and expensive to stay ahead of the curve. Everytime I'd upgrade my setup, I'd be fine for like 6 months, then slowly but surely had to start lowering my settings little bit by little bit until 2 or 3 years goes by and I can only run games at low-medium settings, at most. I was a PC gamer for years and switched to console because I got way too frustrated always having to spend an hour tweaking settings with each new game release just to make the game playable. The game ran like hot garbage on PS4 though.
I have a PS5 and B元 runs buttery smooth at 4k at 60fps.
